Branding Your Business Correctly Online

When marketing yourself or your business online, you will need to let the world know that you are the expert in your market. If you do this properly, you will be looked upon as a professional who deserves their business.

Let's address this area successfully, so our prospects decide to continue on to our web sites and learn more about our business.

There are many places you can brand yourself and your business online, including your own blog, social media and social bookmarking sites like Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, Friend Feed and the list goes on and on.

Obviously the bigger our presence, the more exposure we will get, but working all of these sites to market can be so time consuming. So, we might want to focus on a few important ones.

Theses sites require that we sign up and write a profile, biography etc. We will also need to include links out to our web site or web sites, so people can see what we are all about.

The 1st Site You Must Have A Presence

The first thing you will want to do is create your own blog. This will be your home base in your marketing efforts. I think that a WordPress.org blog is the way to go.

You can begin by picking up a domain or web site. I use GoDaddy. Simply go there and search for a good web site name. You can use your name or a business name. Pick something that is easy to remember and represents your business.

Once you get your site up, it is worth it to design or pay someone to put together a unique logo or graphic for your blog. I have my photo and a logo on mine. My company can help you create this, if you need help. Go check out mine.

A blog is an integral part of your presentation, where you can post product or company specific articles to bring people to your site. You can also use it to post schedules, videos, pictures, host discussions or build a customer or prospective customer list to stay in touch.

People can enter their contact information right at your blog, if you install an Opt-In Box. This allows you to build a list in your promotional efforts. You should make it worthwhile for them to give you their contact info, by offering a free report or other reason for them to want you to stay in touch.

Blogs are very important when it comes to promoting a business online.

Place You Must Brand Yourself #2:

YouTube: Google and all of the other search engines love video. It should be a big part of your focus as you market your business online. It has become a key way that people choose to learn about stuff.

Videos rank high in the search engine results for most searches. Perhaps one reason for this is the fact that Google owns YouTube.

Simply go to youtube and take a few moments to set up your channel. All you have to do is fill in the blanks with your name, company etc... After you set it up you can design a nice profile for your business.

Remember when we talked about your blog I said to spend the time and money to create a unique logo or graphic? You should do this for your YouTube Channel as well. My company can do this, too.

Social networking can be a big part of your promotional efforts. Your YouTube channel can be used to build a growing list of people who are interested in your stuff or just have things in common with you or interest in your interests.

Third Place You Must Properly Brand Yourself Online:

Twitter: Just like with setting up your YouTube Channel, Twitter has a sign up page where you can set up a profile and presence. Once set up, you can send and recieve messages (Tweets) from others and build a list of contacts.

When you communicate on Twitter, you do it with short posts of around one or two sentences. I recommend that you have matching logos or headers on all 3 of these sites for proper branding of your business.

By having matching graphics on all 3 of these, you are presenting a very professional image.

This can throw you way ahead of your competitors and help you big time in your marketing efforts.

Okay! Let's wrap this up. As you present your business to the world and show your brand, do it professionally. One way to accomplish this is by adding custom graphics to your blog, YouTube Channel and Twitter Page. Your prospects will be more inclined to do business with you or at least look into you business further if they view you as being a real professional.

I hope this helps you grab more customers. Let me know if I can help.
